First year pupils at Bellshill Academy took part in a trip to Millport this week. This was an end of year reward trip for all the hard work and excellent effort and behaviour during the year. The pupils took the bus to Largs then the ferry to Millport where they all cycled 10 miles round the island. Pupils then had the chance for free time to explore the shops, parks and funfair. A great day was had by all with fantastic weather. Well done to all the pupils involved who have had an excellent first year at Bellshill Academy.
Scots Hoose Outreach 2017
Matthew Fitt, Scots writer, recently selected five schools across Scotland to work with on a new project to promote Scots language. He chose Bellshill Academy for his Lanarkshire Scots project after being impressed with the use of Scots during a previous visit. He visited the school to work with selected pupils and classes to produce work in Scots. Matthew selected various pieces of work to feature on his website, including Scots poems from S1 pupils, Lennon Fowler, Christopher Murray, Emma Bainbridge, Morgan Cummings and S3 pupil Liam Cunningham. The purpose of which is to promote creativity in Scots.
