Primary 7 Transition Programme
Mr Johnston and Mrs Munro met with Head Teachers from our Associated Primary Schools to plan for transition events for this term. Yvonne MacBean, our Partnership Officer, joined the meeting to launch our new Dynamic Youth Award scheme for P7 and S1 pupils. This new scheme was very well received by our Primary colleagues.
S4 National 5 Prelims
Our Study Support programme for S4 pupils has been ongoing this term to help pupils prepare for their prelim exams which begin next week. Mrs Chalmers has provided all pupils with examination information.
S3 Transition Interviews
Senior staff are currently meeting with all S3 pupils to help them prepare to move to the senior phase next session. As part of this programme a group of S3 students will have the opportunity to take part in a visit to Strathclyde University on Tuesday 28th January. Further information on our Transition programme can be obtained from Mrs McGraw.
S1 Poetry Competition
Next week all of our S1 pupils will be working towards producing a piece of poetry in Scots for entry into the Morrisons competition. The competition is being organized by Mr Scott in the English department.
After the success of spooky The Orphanage last week, this Thursday we will show the very funny British comedy Four Lions.
The screening starts at 3.40pm in Jura. All S4-6 pupils are welcome.
The Music Department are planning to set up a new Soul Band and Mr Ion will be holding auditions for the new Bellshill Soul Band on Wednesday at 1.15 in the Practice Rooms.
Auditions are open to all Drummers,Guitarists and Bass Guitarists in S1-3.
Pupils can speak to staff in the music department for further information.
Rights Respecting School
As a school we are working towards our goal of becoming a recognised Rights Respecting School. There will be a meeting of all pupils who want to be involved in making our school a Rights Respecting School on Wednesday at 1.15 in room 22 ( Mr Moore’s Classroom)
Rabbie’s Tea Break
The Charity Committee are organising our annual coffee morning for Staff and S6 pupils to raise funds for Women’s Aid. This coffee morning was held during interval on
Friday 24th January. This is a really worthwhile cause and raises much needed funds for the charity.
This week’s topic for our Debating Club is ‘This House Believes there are times we have to be cruel to be kind’ . Pupils can come along to Jura at lunchtime on Thursday to have their say or just listen. All welcome.
