Welcome to our new S1
Staff and pupils were delighted to welcome our new S1 pupils to the Academy this week. This is the biggest S1 roll in recent years and we would like to thank all of our parents and carers for their tremendous support of our school uniform. The standard of uniform for every single pupil was outstanding. The pupils were very well prepared for the new session and have been supported throughout the first week by our staff and senior students. We wish them every success at the Academy.
We would like to congratulate all of our students on their success in this year’s SQA examinations. Throughout the week we have been celebrating their successes at Year Group and House assemblies. We are very proud of all of our students who have achieved their personal goals. Yet again we have had improved results from S4 to S6. Our top performers, many of whom are pictured, have achieved excellent results, with our school Dux, Martin Young, becoming our top student in S5 achieving 5 A passes at Higher. We are also delighted with the large numbers of wider achievement awards our students have received, in particular we wish to congratulate 11 of our students on successfully completing the very prestigious Silver Duke of Edinburgh award. Huge congratulations to our young people and, with our best ever set of results for students leaving the Academy at the end of S6, we wish our leavers every success in their chosen careers.
Our S1 pupils had a great introduction to the Academy during another highly successful summer school organised by our Home School Partnership Officers, June Ford and Yvonne MacBean.
Almost 70 new first year pupils took part in a week long Summer School which took place during the first week of the school holidays. The programme was a fantastic success and it gave our pupils an opportunity to meet new classmates, get to know their way round the school building and meet some of the senior pupils who will be supporting them throughout the session. Before the Summer School all of the Senior Pupils had successfully completed a training programme called ‘First Steps to Youth Work’. They gave up a week of their summer holidays to support all of our new First Year pupils and the programme would not have been as successful without their input.
Our wide range of lunchtime and after school clubs are already up and running and we would encourage as many pupils as possible to take part.
