The school currently has 172 iPads of different types in use within the school. The largest group is 99 iPad 2’s that were issued to every first year pupil in early 2012. These iPads have remained with the same pupils as they moved into second year. Pupils have been allowed to take these iPads home as well as to use them within school.
One of the first decisions we made after being informed that we would be involved in the trial was that all staff who would be incorporating iPads into their teaching needed to have access to their own tablet device. We therefor have issued 34 iPad1’s to teaching staff who, like the pupils, use them to work both at home and in the school.
In addition to the iPads, which are issued to pupils and staff, we also have 3 boxes of 10 iPads 1’s that are used as bookable resource throughout the school.
Finally, in February this year we purchased 10 iPad Mini’s that are used primarily with ASN pupils but also hope to make them available in the evening for senior pupils studying for exams and who don’t have access to a computer at home.
