Bellshill Academy welcomes our new S1
We were delighted to welcome our new S1 pupils to the Academy last week. Mrs McGraw, DHT and senior students hosted a welcome assembly and acted as guides for the first few days to ensure that everyone settled in well to the school. Our senior students (pictured) who hold positions of responsibility have been trained as peer mentors and will provide support to younger pupils throughout the session. As always we would like to thank our parents and carers who parents had made sure that our new pupils were exceptionally smartly dressed and very well prepared for the new session.

Exam Success
Once again we were delighted with our SQA examination results with our best ever performance at all stages and all levels. We were particularly delighted with the high number of students who achieved 7National 5 and 5 Higher awards. Well done to our students, staff and parents for their support of our young people throughout the session. We wish those students who have left the Academy at the summer every success as they prepare for University, College and the world of work.
Bellshill Academy Summer Transition Programme 2016

This summer the Home School Partnership Officer in Bellshill Academy ran a week long summer school for new first year pupils. The aim of the programme was to allow pupils to take part in fun activities, meet new friends, get to know the school building and get to know members of staff. The programme was a great success with over 60 new first year pupils attending. 15 senior pupils also volunteered their time as Youth Leaders for the week. The pupils took part in treasure hunts, cooking, sport, music and arts and crafts. The highlight of the week was the trip to the outdoor centre where pupils got to work as a team and take part challenging activities. The feedback from parents and pupils was excellent and will make for a smooth transition for all those involved in to first year.
Get involved !

We would encourage all of our students to get involved in the wide range of clubs which run during lunchtime and after school. Full details are on school noticeboards.
