Duke of Edinburgh Bronze and Silver Awards

Senior pupils at Bellshill Academy completed their Duke of Edinburgh Award last week. Pupils participated in both Bronze and Silver camping expeditionsdoe to Aberfoyle and the Ayrshire coast. They displayed excellent team working, co-operation and communication skills. They walked 15 kilometers each day and set up camp each night. Pupils undertook an extensive training course in preparation for the expeditions. All their hard work paid off as the expeditions were a complete success. Well done to all pupils involved and to our great staff team of Ms McAulay, Ms Macbean and Mr Snelling who supported the students on the programme and on the expeditions.

Mark Scott Leadership for Life

A huge well done to 3 of our senior students, Luke Baxter, Craig Lockhart and Caitlyn Sharpe for achieving the Mark Scott Leadership award. The students were presented with their award at a high profile ceremony in the Raddison Hotel, Glasgow on Monday 25th April.  The students were among 200 students from across the country who were recognized for outstanding work in developing a community project in association with the Outward Bound Trust.  The academy students worked with senior students from Cardinal Newman High School on a project to support our senior citizens in the Bellshill Community.

Well done to everyone in S1 who managed to secure a place on the Tinto climb to raise funds for St Andrew’s Hospice. The climb will take place on Tuesday 24th May.
