Primary – Secondary Transition Easter School

P6 pupils from all primary schools in the Bellshill area were invited to a programme of activities during the Easter holidays held in Bws.1ellshill Academy and Cardinal Newman High Schools. The programme was organised by the Home School Partnership Officers from each secondary school. Pupils had the chance to get to know the secondary school building, take part in fun activities and meet new friends.

The programme concluded with a trip to an outdoor centre and a certificate presentation. The feedback from pupils and parents was excellent with all pupils feeling more prepared and confident for starting High School.

 XL Celebration Evening

x3

3XL pupils have been busy producing a film for an ‘Arts and Employability’ project. Their chosen art form was ‘Special Effects Make Up’. Pupils created some gory looking cuts and bruises and produced a short film on the dangers of gang culture.

All pupils learned lots of new skills from the project and attended a celebration evening in St Ambrose High School with other XL groups from across North Lanarkshire. The pupils all received certificates and a special award for all their hard work.

Gymnastics News

After winning the North Lanarkshire Gymnastics Competition, Bellshill Academy had four pupils: Abby Forwell, Alana Hillcoat, Jodie Burns and Morgan Ferguson represent the school at the Scottish Schools Gymnastics Competition. This took place on Sunday the 20th of March at Bells Sports Centre in Perth.  After giving their all and providing a fantastic performance the girls finished 12th place out of the 24 schools that competed in level one, which is a great achievement for them and the school. Well done girls, the school is very proud of you!
