The Bellshill Academy Bronze Duke of Edinburgh group recently completed their first overnight expedition to Strathyre in Stirling. The group successfully navigated from Kilmahog to Balquhidder, working as a team to read the map and navigate using a compass. The group also worked on their expedition aim to track their steps and use the outdoors to increase their fitness. The school group of S6 pupils were also joined by a group of pupils from S3-4 who are completing their Duke of Edinburgh award via the local youth group in the Orbiston area of Bellshill. Both groups had an enjoyable expedition and worked hard to learn the skills they will need to pass their final expedition. The pupils are now focusing on their exams and will complete their final expedition to Auchengillan at the start of June.
