Dragons Lair Success – 3 Years in a Row
A huge congratulations to Megan Wallace and Pamela Prentice for an outstanding performance at the final of the Dragons Lair competition on 17 December 2013.
The girls came 3rd out of 23 schools who entered the competition. Their presentation was first class and a number of staff in the audience told the girls that they felt their presentation was the best overall. Our new Executive Director spoke to the girls and congratulated them on a fantastic presentation and innovative concept.
Many thanks to Mrs Lesley Heffernanm Principal Teacher Business Education and her team for preparing the girls so well. Their achievement means that we have not only secured a place in the final of the competition in the past 3 years, but we have won a place in the top 3 in each of these years. What a fantastic achievement for our students and for our Business/ICT department. (Photo attached: Pamela Prentice, left and Megan Wallace with the Dragons)

Currently Woodhall and Douglas are bringing in the most – support your House and win the 50 House points and help the Woodland Trust plant more trees!!
Students from all year groups have been involved in meetings throughout the week as part of our student consultation on the proposals to restructure our school day. Staff, parents and partners have all been invited to participate in this very important consultation. This will be a very important part of our agenda at the next meeting of our Parent Council on 13th January.
Auditions for pupils interested in taking part in our school show Calamity Jane will retstart next week.
Duke of Edinburgh Gold Residential
The Duke of Edinburgh staff based at Education Head Quarters are organising a DofE Gold residential for mid February. This will be for young people across North Lanarkshire who meet the necessary criteria for Gold. This is a fantastic opportunity for our senior students and our partnership officers will be speaking to eligible students next week. In the meantime, parents can contact June or Yvonne in the Partnership Office for further information.
Mentoring and Study Support Programme
Our extensive programme of study support and mientoring for students in S4-6 has resumed this week. This support is very important to our students as they prepare for forthcoming prelim examinations.
