The charity committee are looking to collect donations of dried and tinned food, tea, coffee or other long lasting food types from staff and pupils to give as part of our Christmas hamper scheme. Many people in our local community need help this Christmas so any donations, big or small will make a difference. The food will be collected at tutor time from Monday 2nd, but it can also be brought to room 34 on Wednesday period 1.
Our Christmas concert will take place on Thursday 12th December at 7pm in the assembly hall. Pupils and staff have been rehearsing over the past few weeks and we look forward to a wonderful evening of entertainment. Tickets can be purchased from the Music department.
This year’s Christmas Ceilidh will take place on Monday 16th December from 7.00pm – 10.00pm in the assembly Hall. This has always been a huge success and staff and pupils are confident that this year’s dance will be even better than last year.
Scottish Parliament ESU Debate
Congratulations to Rachel Bryce S6, who stepped in at very short notice to represent Bellshill at the ESU debate on Monday 2nd December in the Scottish Parliament buildings. Rachel took part in two debates when she was partnered by a student from Jordanhill College School. We are really proud of her for undertaking this daunting task.
Mrs Drummond, Teacher of Support for Learning, who organised the trip would also like to compliment the supporters who accompanied Rachel. One of the organisers of the debate commended the group as a fantastic bunch of young people.
The pupils had a great experience and really enjoyed the Scottish Parliament.
Ben Nevis Challenge
A huge congratulations to the pupils and staff who participated in last week’s Ben Nevis Challenge. The total number of steps taken for the week was 102, 071,
absolutely smashing our goal of climbing Scotland’s biggest Munro. Our steps total would be the same as climbing Ben Nevis an amazing 11 and a half times, or even the same as climbing Mount Everest one and a half times.
Some pupils worked tirelessly towards our total, and tutor teachers will have special “milestone mentions” for some pupils this week.
Well done to everyone involved!
NLC Dragon’s Lair Final
We are delighted to have won a place in the final of the Dragon’s Lair competition for the third year in a row. Our team comprising of Megan Wallace and Pamela Prentice will compete against other NLC schools on 17th December
Senior Students Visit Edinburgh
Our senior students had a fantastic day in Edinburgh on Wednesday 4th December. As part of the trip our students visited the Christmas markets and watched a performance of the Lion King.
A huge thanks to everyone involved in making this Charity event a great success. At this early stage we have already raised almost £250 for a very worthwhile charity.
