Pupils in all year groups have the opportunity to participate in a range of lunchtime and after school clubs including the following:
The Bellshill Academy Chess club started on Tuesday 27th of August. It takes place in Maths Room 20 (Mr Smith’s class) at lunchtime. All pupils and staff are welcome to attend. There is no need to know how to play the game – we will teach you.
Mr Campbell will be running a Badminton Club on Thursdays after school 3.30 to 4.25. The club will start on Thursday 29th August,
The club is open to all year groups no matter how good you are. So come along and give it a try.
Pupils should report to the games hall after the school bell. All staff are also invited.
Aaron Clark and Conner McCall (both S3 pupils) have started a debating club for S1 pupils. Interested pupils can take part during lunchtime on Mondays. The club meets at 1.10 in the Inclusion Support Base.
The Netball Club will run on Tuesday’s after school, 3.30 – 4.30. in the Games Hall, starting Tuesday 27th August. This is open to all year groups, and everyone interested is welcome, whether you have played Netball before or not. Pupils attending should wear normal PE kit, and come to the games hall at 3.30.
Morrisons Let’s Grow Vouchers
All pupils have been asked to bring any Morrisons Let’s Grow vouchers into school. The vouchers will be issued until Monday 27th October and pupils can help our Eco projects by handing their vouchers to their Tutor Teacher who will award Eco merit to pupils supporting this very worthwhile initiative.
During a school term pupils can earn Eco merits in a variety of ways. Pupils with the most ECO merits at the end of a term will win (as many of you know) a prize – usually a £5 voucher. Throughout the term pupils will be reminded at Assemblies of the ways in which they can earn eco merits.
Lockers are available for all pupils from S1 to S6. Our new S1 pupils will have the opportunity to request their own locker next week. Full details will be provided by Mrs McGraw.
The first Parent Council event of the session will take place on Monday 23 September 2013 to raise awareness with parents/carers on how to keep their children safe when using social network sites. The event will be delivered by CEOP trained staff and will provide you with practical advice on how to protect your children online. Full details of the evening will be issued to pupils as soon as possible however, in the meantime, if you feel you need to speak to a member of staff about internet safety please contact our Home School Partnership Officers, June Ford and Yvonne Macbean, here at the school.
