Four S2 pupils from Bellshill Academy took part in a 10 week science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) experience. Pupils rose to the challenge of water conservation by proposing the installation of a rainwater harvesting system to save on water use within the school builidings. As part of this experience, the pupils gained from the Academy’s partnership with global oil and gas company Wood Group PSN. Pupils demonstrated an ability to work as a team, solve problems and presented their ideas confidently to the judging panel at the recent Lanarkshire go4SET celebration and assessment day. The pupils who participated were(left to right) Lauren Quinn, Ross Pender, Lindsey Burke, Jade Sommerville. Many congratulations to all involved and to Mr Greg Linning, teacher of Biology, who mentored the team.

Congratulations to the school rugby team who won 41-0 on Tuesday 25th March in the semi-final of the Brewin Dolphin Bowl competition. The boys played extremely well for the whole match, with a brilliant solo run from Jamie Rankin gaining the team one of its tries.
Morrisons Bag Pack
Mrs Jodie McGraw, Depute Head Teacher, would like to thank all the pupils who took part in the bag pack on Saturday 22nd March. The bag pack was in aid of the Malawi project and the Malawi team would also like to thank the store and the local community for their tremendous generosity.
We would would like to thank all of the parents and members of the local community who contributed to last week’s highly successful Health Week. All year groups had the opportunity to participate in a wide range of activities aimed at promoting our Health and Wellbeing agenda. The pupils had a great experience with the seniors particularly enjoying the opportunity to
engage in workshops which focused on revision strategies. Thanks also to Mrs Caroline Anderson, Principal Teacher Physical Education, for coordinating the week.
