Study Skills Evening for Parents/Carers of S4-6

Parents of pupils in S4-6 were invited to participate in a Study Skills Evening at the Academy on Tuesday 26th August.  The evening was led by Yvonne Macbean our Home School Partnership Officer. Throughout last session, Yvonne worked with the Government in developing a range of simple but effective strategies which parents can use to help their son/daughter to study more effectively at home. Yvonne shared these strategies with parents and Elizabeth Mitchell PT Pupil Support provided further information on the range of mentoring and study support which we are offering all pupils as part of our new Life Skills Programme. Four of our School Captains, Abbie Milligan, Martin Young, Katie Jamieson and Megan Gowrie also delivered presentations highlighting strategies which they used to achieve exam success.

The evening was a great success and parents have asked for a further meeting nearer to Prelim time.

Parent Council

The first meeting of the session of our Parent Council took place on Monday 25th August.  Parents were given a detailed presentation from Mrs Munro on recent SQA results and had the opportunity to preview our new Academy website which will go live next week. We have a few parent vacancies on the Council and if any parent wishes to join, they should contact Mrs Ward at the school office. We would be delighted to welcome new members to our very active Parent Council.
