Our Christmas Show took place on Thursday 10th December and it was a huge success. Our students and staff performed to a very large audience including some of our elected members and colleagues from our Associated Primary Schools. A huge thanks to our Music and PE staff for organising the show and ensuring that our young people performed to a very high standard. This year our National 5 Dance class delivered exceptional performances. The Girls involved choreographed the dances themselves and dance styles ranged from Hip Hop to Contemporary with a fantastic Special Christmas performance with Santa.
Christmas Market Shopping Evening Event
Earlier on the evening of 10th December, we held our Christmas Market shopping event in the school. The event was organized by Miss McCormick and the Parent Council and was a great community event. Stalls included homemade jams and chutneys, cupcakes, jewellery, decorations, candles and many more. All funds raised will support a range of school projects and our nominated charities, including St Andrew’s Hospice. The Parent Council were particularly delighted that two of our stall holders donated all of their proceeds to school funds and to our Malawi project. Their generosity is so gratefully appreciated.
Christmas card Recycling House Competition
The eco committee have started to organise this year’s Christmas Card Recycling Competition. During the first week back after the Christmas break there will be a house competition taking place which gives both pupils and staff the opportunity to win House points. The competition will begin on the first day back after Christmas – Wednesday 6th January 2016 and pupils will have until the end of the school day on Tuesday 12th January 2016 to bring in old Christmas cards. The house who recycles the most Christmas cards wins the most points.
Prelim examinations for our senior students begin just after the Christmas holiday from 18th – 29th January. Full details have been issued to pupils and are available on our website. Our Christmas newsletter is also available on the website.

End of term activities
The end of term has been an incredibly busy one for our students with a range of activities and events taking place including:
S1 trip to the Pantomine, S5/6 visit to the Christmas Market in Edinburgh, Modern Languages trip to Excape in Glasgow and student musical performances at our partnership nurseries. We have also hosted our own coffee mornings to raise funds for school projects and to welcome some of our older Bellshill residents. We would like to thank all of the pupils and staff who have organised and participated in these events and wish everyone in the wider Bellshill community a very happy Christmas and successful 2016.
