Our annual Open Evening for P7 pupils and parents took place on Wednesday 11th September. The evening was another outstanding success. Mrs Munro and Mr Johnston gave presentations about the Transition programme, outlining the exciting events which will take place throughout the year for all P6 and P7 pupils from our associated Primary Schools. Following the presentations, parents and pupils had the opportunity to visit all of the departments and take part in a range of activities which highlight all that is on offer for the young people here at the Academy.
Our thanks go to the parents/carers of all of the P7 pupils for the overwhelming support for the evening and to all of our colleagues in Lawmuir, Mossend and Noble primaries for coming along to the Open Evening and for their ongoing support of our transition programme.
Social Networking Information Evening for Parents/Carers
The first big event hosted by our Parent Council, will take place in the Academy on Monday 23rd September. The event is being held in response to concerns raised by parents about the potential dangers of social networking sites and requests for information on how to keep their children safe while using these sites in their own time. During the evening, parents can explore the ways to keep children safe when using facebook and twitter and experts will be on hand to give practical advice. The event is being supported by technical staff from Tesco who will provide advice on how to get the best from your phone, tablet device and teaching staff will provide guidance on some of the Apps which can be used to support your child’s learning. Full details have been issued to pupils and further information can be obtained from Mrs Ward or Mrs Ford. We hope as many parents as possible will be able to benefit from what promises to be a very worthwhile evening.
Bring your Blazer Back Project
All former pupils are invited to donate their “old” blazer to a new Project within the school. To ensure that all our pupils continue to wear full school dress, we want to provide an opportunity to purchase a blazer at extremely low costs. If you have left school and wish to donate your blazer, please hand it in to the school office or partnership office.
Our Rugby Club continues to be extremely popular with a large number of pupils turning up for training this week. The first game for S3/4 will be on Wednesday 18th of September at Dalziel Park.
Our successful team of senior golfers who won the North Lanarkshire secondary schools competition were delighted to be presented with their medals on Thursday 12th September at a formal dinner hosted by the Motherwell & Wishaw Rotary Club.
