CELEBRATING LANARKSHIRE 2013 FASHION

The event was organised to bring to a close 2013 a year of celebrating Lanarkshire 2013. Supported by the Art and Design department, senior pupils designed and modeled their own costumes for the event which was a great success. This was an excellent opportunity for everyone involved.
3XL Christmas Coffee Morning
Our 3XL pupils hosted a Christmas Coffee Morning for a one of the local women’s groups on Tuesday 10th December. Our guests were treated to some pampering in our Hair Salon, before taking part in a game of Bingo and a Beetle Drive. Students from the Music Department performed a short Christmas Concert and Connor McLean (S2) added to the entertainment by performing some illusions and magic tricks for our guests.
Everyone had a great time and our thanks go to Mrs Ashleigh Lavery, Teacher of Religious Education, June Ford our Partnership Officer and 3XL for organising the morning and to our guests for guests for coming along to the Academy. (Photo attached)

Rights Respecting School
Any pupil who would like to be involved in looking at Children’s Rights and helping our school to become a Rights Respecting School should come to a meeting on Friday lunchtime at 1.20 in room 22. If you would like to have more information about this please see Mr Alistair Moore, Principal Teacher of Modern Languages or just come along to the meeting. Everyone welcome.
The charity committee are looking to collect donations of dried and tinned food, tea, coffee or other long lasting food types from staff and pupils to give as part of our Christmas hamper scheme. There are a lot of people needing help this Christmas so any donations, big or small will make a difference. The food will be collected at tutor time and can also be brought to room 34 on Wednesday period 1.
